SSL Team Canada is back on the road to Rio, and this time the Enforcers have earned their place through the SSL Nations Ranking – entering the Final Series from an impressive 12th position.
The last time Canada reached the SSL Gold Cup Final Series in Gran Canaria, they had to fight through the North American qualification alongside three other nations. This time, there was no need for a qualifier.
Led by captain Robert Hemming, the Canadian squad brings a mix of experience and young talent. Hemming is a former national champion in the Finn and an experienced keelboat sailor, while the younger generation includes national champions and Youth America’s Cup campaigners.
Canada will enter the 1/8 Finals from 2–5 December, in a group alongside Sweden.
It has been a while since we last saw the Enforcers in action.
Now ranked 12th and heading straight into the Final Series, they remain one of the more mysterious teams on the road to Rio.
So what will Canada bring this time?
